Drukchen 02 Kunga Paljor  b.1428 - d.1476

Drukchen 02 Kunga Paljor, the thirteenth abbot of Ralung Monastery, was the son of Sherab Zangpo (shes rab bzang po, 1400-1438) who was the twelfth abbot of Ralung Monastery. He was identified as the reincarnation of Tsangpa Gyare, the founder of the Drukpa tradition. Kunga Paljor also served as abbot of Taklha Gampo.

Sherab Zangpo  b.1400 - d.1438

Sherab Zangpo was the twelfth abbot of Ralung Monastery. His father was Jamyang Yeshe Rinchen, the tenth abbot. He had two sons, Kunga Paljor and Lhai Wangpo.

Sherab Zangpo  b.1395 - d.1457

Jangsem Sherab Zangpo, a disciple of Tsongkhapa, founded the great Gelug monastery of Chokhor Jampaling in 1437. According to a recent biography, Sherab Zangpo trained in many traditions, including the Karma Kagyu, Jonang, and Sakya.

Sengge Sherab  b.1238 - d.1280

Sengge Sherab was the fourth of the “Nine Incomparable Lions,” patriarchs of the Drukpa Kagyu tradition. Although never a throne holder of Ralung, he studied under the fourth abbot and trained the fifth. His main seat was the monastery Bardrok Dorje Ling.

Shonnu Sengge  b.1200 - d.1266

Shonnu Sengge is counted as the second of the “Nine Incomparable Lions,” patriarchs of the Drukpa Kagyu tradition. He was born into a prominent Drukpa family – his paternal uncle was Dharma Sengge Sangye Won, the first of the Nine Incomparable Lions and the student of Tsangpa Gyarepa, who founded the Drukap tradition. He served as the third abbot of Ralung Monastery.

Sengge Gyalpo  b.1289 - d.1326

Sengge Gyalpo, the son of Pokyapba Sengge Rinchen, was the seventh abbot of Ralung Monastery and the sixth of the “Nine Incomparable Lions,” patriarchs of the Drukpa Kagyu tradition. He was responsible for building a main temple at the monastery and credited with spreading the Drukpa Kagyu doctrine.

Yeshe Rinchen  b.1364 - d.1413

Jamyang Yeshe Rinchen was the tenth abbot of Ralung. He was the son of Lodro Sengge and the father of Namkha Pelzang.

Dorje Rinchen  b.1350?

Dorje Rinchen was a disciple of Jamyang Kunga Sengge and the teacher of Jamyang Lodro Sengge, the eighth and ninth abbots of Ralung, respectively.

Lodro Sengge  b.1345 - d.1390

Jamyang Lodro Sengge was the eighth abbot of Ralung monastery and the last of the “Nine Incomparible Lions,” early patriarchs of the Drukpa Kagyu tradition.

Khyentse Tokden  b.1375?

Khyentse Tokden was a lineage holder of the early Drukpa Kagyu tradition, was a disciple of Lodro Sengge as well as the great Jonang master Chogle Namgyal. Among his disciples were Lodro Chokden.
